I don't think that Italy leaving the EZ is an option. If Italy goes, the EZ will collectively cease to exist.
What that event might look like is pleasant to contemplate.
I think that the Germans will do what ever it takes to keep Italy afloat. They may not like it, but it will be a matter of their own survival.
