Felix Resources is between a rock and a hard placeFELIX Resources’ Moolarben Coal Mine development has hit opposition from the Mid Western Regional Council.
The Council wants an area near Mudgee excluded from a proposed mining lease and re-classified as a national park.
The mining company has asked the New South Wales Government to approve the second stage of the project. The development will bring the number of open cut pits to four and add another two underground mines to the site.
The Mayor of the Mid Western Regional Council, Percy Thompson, is asking the Department of Environment and Climate Change to step in and protect the Drip and Corner Gorges.
