Let's be honest. The only validity they will need is the commercial one. If Huon purchases a motor power unit, it will demonstrate that the energy produced is equal to or better than the cost of a diesel engine on the food barge. They will also need to do the maths on how much more efficient it is to have power generation off the front of the boat instead of a diesal engine and carrying the fuel needed. So not many things need to go right for it to be more efficient.
The length they last will be of interest. Considering they are out of the water it will be less of a concern than a CETO unit and easier to conduct maintenance.
Most food barges need to run on on about 120Kw. I'd assume that's the ballpark they are looking at generating. It will go into a battery system.

I don't know about NZ but there are,I believe-[I stand to be corrected]-'brownie' points[Carbon Credit Units] that are earned if renewable energy is used, ie there is either a reduction in co2 or no emissions going into the atmosphere as a result.
