I too wonder who Macquarie is coordinating, who are the sellers? Who are the buyers?

If RIO alters its percentage holding how soon must they tell the market? Do they need to say anything at all until the percentage increase exceeds a certain increment?

I also wonder whether RIO is considered a foreign company due to London being their head-office. If they are considered foreign are they required to seek permission before exceeding 15% ownership of an Australian company?

By the way, has anyone on here had personal experience of how brokers introduce buyers to sellers? Do they phone people out of the blue saying we have a seller or we have a buyer, are you interested?

I gather people do it this way so they don't need to endure the unkown variables of buying/selling on market.
