Meerkat, ALMOST unprecendented is corect. Armstrong is more about time than price but using his work I link this crash to that of 1906, 1937 and 1973. To my mind the 89% fall of 1929 is unrelated in time and is out there all on its own. Of the related crashes 2 fell by 49% and one by 45%. It would seem that in the history of the DOW breaching the 50% mark is not what has ever happened here. We have not done that yet this time. The DOW peaked at 14280 so a fall below 7140 would then have us in unchartered territory.
