Range anxiety is probably a myth for the majority of Australians .

The majority of Australians live in cities or largely urban areas so therefore many of them could probably use an electric vehicle range wise successfully . There is quite a bit of data around suggesting commuting distances could easily be done by existing EV's .

That said , we have a way to go before we have enough charging stations for regular commuters . That would include home charging facilities of course .

There are still many Australians in rural areas who do big distances however they are in the minority . Electric cars are simply not suitable for them at this time .

The main issue with electric cars in Australia is price . Price wise EV's are not even close . That's why we can't sell them here .

If one of the major manufacturers produced an electric vehicle of small to mid size that had a range of 300klms for $25-30k the truckies wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand of taking ICE vehicles to the recyclers .

Or , if a Tesla S was $60k here I'm sure you would be suprised how many they would sell .

One of the other issues is the right type of vehicle . We have a love for SUV's and utes here . Not too many EV choices in that market .

All that said , it's all about the price .
