You're right about savings though - it's deplorable. This I 100% agree on and it's a national disgrace. As an anecdote, I had a few 20 somethings over for dinner last night (2 couples) - everything was about real estate and big mortgages. One woman (aged 26) was pregnant.
Not happy. Good, fun and intelligent people but I kept my mouth shut. Too many have no idea about the swings and roundabouts, the boom/bust scenario, how to manage risk etc.
Saving is paramount. IMO, as much a priority as education in the 21st century.
