Newsflash mate, if a storm surge hit a canal development on a high tide home values would be decimated on canal front sites. Thats reality. Take a look at an elevation map of the canal areas from Tweed to Noosa and you will see that there's heaps that are between 1 and 2 meters above sea level just waiting to be smashed.
