ArcelorMittal is to spend $35 billion increasing its steelmaking capacity, the Financial Times reported. About $20 billion of the spending would be invested in two steel plants in Jharkand and Orissa, the north-eastern states of India. According to the plan, the capacity of each plant would be raised to 12 million tonnes of steel per year by 2015. The company will spend the remaining $10 billion in high-economic-growth regions such as Brazil, Mexico, Ukraine, South Africa etc.
