It doesn't matter how good a cobalt lithium battery is, the fact of the matter is the industry will move to a technology that would be cheaper and more economical. At the moment, as we all know, cobalt is very expensive with most of the resource being mined out geopolitically unstable places like the congo. So the industry will either need to make cobalt cheaper or go with significantly reduced amount of the resource. Understanding that then unless cobalt becomes cheaper, at the moment, the industry is moving towards reducing the amount of cobalt and that is irrefutable. Panasonic already starting to do that and allegedly the move would result in much cheaper and higher energy dense battery.

Not downramping, just presenting unbiased logic.
