BANNERMAN Resources has launched its ?learner assistance scheme? in which 320 underprivileged rural and urban learners in Erongo benefited. The scheme provided school uniforms and settled the children?s outstanding School Development Fund contributions in full for the 2011 school term. The value of the donations amounted to over N$100 000 and the needy children were selected by the headmasters from 20 selected schools across the region. Speaking at the handover ceremony at Omaruru, Education Minister Abraham Iyambo welcomed the donation, stating that the ministry needed the help of the private sector to improve the situation of schools. ?We want to invest in the sustainable development of our host community. Education enhances the lives of many people and is an excellent example of a sustainable benefit. This programme is planned to give a large number of underprivileged children the opportunity to make the most of their education,? said the general manager of Bannerman Resources, Brandon Munro. Bannerman Resources is an emerging exploration company with interest of developing a uranium mine at the Etango project. The Etango project is one of the world?s largest undeveloped uranium deposits, boasting a total resource of over 200 million pounds of uranium oxide (U3O8), and is located 35km east of Swakopmund.
