re: think again before flying qantas. tastarga Fair comments, the real threat I think is from Emirates. The Bangkok incident at least did not cost anyone their lives. Nor did the government try to whitewash it. Jetstar Asia is a partial attempt to address the shortfall of flexibility on Asian destinations, although with not much success. And you're right, the SIA hosties are much more pleasant. However, when the chips were down in the Taipei crash, they didn't do their job, whereas the old boilers at Qantas did everything by the book at Bangkok.
