Yes it has left me amazed a few times when a business has talked up a "family culture" but in practice it has simply meant that the family is protected at any cost, including shareholder value. Some "family cultures" I have known have merely served to protect family members who don't know what they're doing and enormous shareholder value has been destroyed in the process.
