help re: 'bed & breakfast'? Thanks for that SB2000, but I'm still unclear about my main immediate interest:

In the UK investors used to be able to 'bed and breakfast' shares, that is to sell the day before the tax year end (to get the Capital Gains benefit of any tax loss), and buy back the same shares the next day (first day of new tax year).

Is this still allowed by the tax system in Oz? Or has your Tax Man brought in a 'thirty day rule' as ours has here in UK? That is, here you can't get the tax relief if you buy back the same shares within thirty days.

I would like to be able to relate the unusual BQT trading patterns lately to Oz investors' need to optimise their tax position.

Any other offers of help on this one?

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Sid
