Yes, after the last incompetent nationalist President they changed the rules. That was from Herbert Hoover to FDR. Just as Trump falsely claimed the country was turning the corner on the pandemic as deaths soared, so did Herbert Hoover insist an economic recovery was underway in the Great Depression. Yet unemployment was rising above 20 percent and banks were failing across the country. Meantime, Adolf Hitler was taking power in Germany. For months the country stagnated while Hoover indulged in a Trump-style self-pity party. We just saw how much damage an incompetent, vindictive, extremist President can do in the period from 2 November to 20 January. Hoover was cut from the same cloth and almost as bad. And he had until 4 March to stuff things right up. The states quickly ratified the 20th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution - it was known as the “lame duck amendment” - changing Inauguration Day to 20 January. They thought it would prevent a bitter ex-President doing too much damage. They were wrong.

Orson - I appreciate your view and history lesson, however you did not cover the question of voting irregularities which has been the issue raised by Trump and others prior to and since the election. No doubt the advantage of living in a democracy is that issues can be be dealt with by the appropriate courts, etc. Remain open minded.
