Bingo.. it is the failure of ordinary Australians to realise that their nationalism it is nothing more than self interest masquerading as national interest..
In other words, if their self interests are suddenly threatened or investigated by the state they are no longer nationalistic
The national interest on the other hand, is what is best for this 'nation' regardless of the self interest of individuals (few or many) and/or corporations, organisations or indeed groups of organisations cartels etc etc
built up over time, spent in the relative status quo which we have experienced for let's say 150 years.. punctuated by wars, events, moments, achievements, successes, losses..
