Marmota Energy, a South Australian precious metal and uranium exploration company continues its exploration in the Far North of South Australia, having lodged two new applications for exploration in July.
Both lodged with the State Government on Thursday, July 10 for a period of two years, the applications amount to a total of 340 kilometres squared approximately 155 kilometres east of Leigh Creek and 145 kilometres north-north west of Olary respectively.
The applications add to approximately 10,000 square kilometres of current exploration licenses currently held in South Australia by Marmota Energy.
Marmota Energy Senior Geologist David Gray said the company were mainly looking at discovering sedimentary hosted uranium in the area – similar to that found at the Four Mile and Beverley Mines.
However, the company, which also holds exploration tenements on the Yorke Peninsula, is focussing their energies further south. “It’s (the Yorke Peninsula) is pretty active at the moment, and is a historically active coper region.
Marmota Energy has been drilling just north of recent State Government approved mine, Hillside.
Endeavour Copper Gold Pty Ltd applied for exploration for 315 square kilometres for a two year period in the ‘Kingoonya’ area – situated approximately 205 kilometres south of Coober Pedy. The South Australian mineral exploration company’s application consists of seven different sections in the Kingoonya area.
ECG Managing Director Duncan Chessel said the company were targeting copper and gold in the region – currently drilling on a gold prospect on North Well Station between Kingoonya and Tarcoola.
They will also be targeting Nickel later on this year
