a lot of people don't like the move Billabong has done to get into Retail....but its no different to the move that say Woolies, Coles, DJS, Myer, JB etc are doing in sourcing own brands / private labels....they are basically trying to double dip in the margin that is availible before a product is sold....
The move that Billabong has done into Retail is a very smart move and will give it a big competitive advantage over its competitors.....They can also push the sales of their brands now over that of their competitors / lock them out....get a greater control over the end price of their product / brand and have guarented end distribution ( unlike the poor suppliers who supply to woolies & coles...)
