    The whole climate change debate is hijacked with a series of "truisms" imo.

    For example "... other forms of power generation are far too expensive to make the sort of cuts they demand" ... that is a widely accepted view so I am not picking on you lol ... so a 50% increase in the average residential electricity bill would be catastrophic? A $500 increase might be painful for some, but climate change or resource depletion might be fatal for some.

    There are countries making substantial inroads to greener energy (offshore wind turbines in Scandanavia and geothermal for the lucky ones) ... imo early movers will be winners and procratinators will not ... I would love to see our Federal Govt make some brave policies on renewables and lower carbon eanergy options like gas.
