Australian oil and gas company, Mosaic Oil, expects to have a new gas field in Queensland in operation in 2004. The company forecasts the new Waggamba gas field to be operating by late 2004. Mosaic struck oil and gas at Waggamba-2 on 16 February 2004, and the first gas has been flared. CEO, Howard Brady, said that the company expects to gain approval for a 23-kilometre pipeline linking to the state's gas transmission grid. It is thought that the field could contain up to 1 trillion cubic feet of gas.
