Ukraine interested in Mongolian coal

President Viktor Yanukovych said Ukraine is interested in the production of coking coal in Mongolia during a meeting Wednesday with visiting Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj.

Yanukovych said Ukraine has received a proposal from the Mongolian president, and Ukrainian experts will go to Mongolia soon to explore the possibility.

The two countries also agreed to further develop cooperation on emergency prevention, culture and education.

Elbegdorj, for his part, noted that the two countries have enjoyed traditional friendship.

At this stage, soldiers from both countries are serving together in peacekeeping forces in different parts of the world, Elbegdorj said.

The Mongolian president, who studied at the Military Political Institute of the former Soviet Union in Lviv from 1983 to 1988, also praised Ukraine's education system, which traditionally receives Mongolian students in universities.
