Scientfic arguments and research presented on HC this past week scope real levels of benzene and toluene in mundane human activities several to 100's of times anything found at/near the Cougar site this past week ... these include but are not limited to:

having a can soft drink

having a smoke

filling a car with fuel

washing and conditioning your hair

drinking bore water taken from coal seam aquifers


DERMs own testing has on at least two and probably more occasions now found no benzene and toluene in groundwater samples at and around the Cougar site, bar a limit of reading 0.2 parts per billion which is multiples below world health drinking water quality levels.

Silence is in the wake of scientific evidence is deafening ... nothing from DERM, Govt Ministers, journalists, radio and TV shock jocks, previously incensed bloggers and concerned Kigaroy residents.

These people were prepared to actively hang/draw/quarter, lynch or burn at stake ... or watch, chant and cheer from the crowd ... on the basis of a now proven laboratory error. Not an apology, not a retraction.

Unpleasant, unjustified, and unlawful crowd behaviour has been eradicated in most civilised western democracies ... it is shameful that it is sanctioned and even fanned by Queensland and Federal Labor ministers and politicians in the run up to announced and pending elections.

Despite overwhelming scientific evidence to the contrary, DERM mantain the 2km borewater exclusion zone around the Cougar plant ... forcing Cougar to deliver water to any farmer wanting water within that zone.

Despite overwhelming scientific evidence, the brakes now put in place on Cougar, Carbon and Linc to submit statements of environmental effects by 20th August and have them reviewed by a DERM appointed scientific panel by about 9th September.

The above actions are shammed concern by a shamed govenment department and the senior officers within them that exercised (or were forced to exercise) poor professional judgement in the first instance.

Farmers and residents of Kingaroy have been seriously mislead by government officers, journalists, politicians and the sectional interests of concern community group leaders.

Hopefully, enough Kingaroy residents and farmers feel queasy about their hysterical crowd chanting lyncing ways and in upcoming federal and state elections will turn on those that have mislead them .
