Smartphone technology and artificial intelligence are solidifying their spots within the healthcare industry, according to Insights.
Here are five things to know:
1. Deloitte found one in six physician appointments occurred virtually in 2014.
2. Smartphone technology combined with wearable technology offers a substantial impact on patients' health, helping with monitoring and early detection.
3. Machine learning then leverages this collected data from smartphones and wearables to create actionable solutions.
4. Australia-based ResApp Health is currently working on an app to diagnose respiratory conditions with a smartphone's microphone, which functions as a stethoscope. The ResAppDx will leverage machine learning algorithms to sounds toidentify respiratory conditions, like pneumonia or bronchiolitis.
5. Israel-based Beyond Verbal created a research platform that pinpoints biomarkers in voices. These biomarkers reveal health complications, such as heart problems or Parkinson's disease.
