    Mineral Hill deposit extended 200m
    Drilling programme nearing completion

Approximately 7,800 metres of a 10,000 metre drilling programme at the Mt Kasi project, Fiji, has been completed.
Recent drilling has confirmed a minimum 200 metre southern mineralised extension to the Mineral Hill deposit and highlighted shallow, high grade mineralisation available at surface within the preliminary pit design.

    Best drill results include:
    Hole MHRC044 4m @ 7.14 g/t Au from 4m, and 20m @ 6.89 g/t Au from 10m (including 4m @ 18.6 g/t Au from 23m)
    Hole MHRC053 5m @ 9.31 g/t Au from 33m (including 2m @ 21.3 g/t Au from 35m)
    Hole MHRC043 12m @ 3.40 g/t Au from 24m
    Hole MHRC042 10m @ 2.96 g/t Au from 57m
    (hole abandoned in mineralisation)
    Hole MHRC005 6m @ 2.12 g/t Au from 52m
    Hole MHRC007 10m @ 1.67 g/t Au from 51m

Holes MHRC005 and MHRC007 have identified down-dip extensions of the main lode at the southern end of the Mineral Hill deposit, which extend the defined strike of the deposit within the previous optimised pit design (650 metres in length) by 200 metres to the south.

Both holes reported better grades than holes drilled above these intersections in a previous campaign. Importantly, this zone remains open at depth.

Of the 301,600 ounces of gold resources reported for the project (before incorporating results from the present drilling campaign, refer 2004 Annual Report, p31), 229,100 ounces are currently delineated at Mineral Hill. Of this, 164,500 ounces are reported as reserves within the preliminary pit design (generated in 1998, before commencement of the current drilling programme).

This historically high conversion of resources to reserves (72%) is very encouraging for the likelihood of a new, larger pit extending further south to take in the most recent results, which link with the diamond drilling completed during the March and June 2004 quarters.

Holes MHRC035 to MHRC044 were drilled into an area close to the middle of the (pre 2004 drilling) pit design
    to improve ore delineation.
The grade and width of up-dip intersections such as that encountered by hole
MHRC044 (4m @ 7.14g/t Au from 4m; 20m @ 6.89 g/t Au from 10m) have exceeded expectations, and confirm the presence of significant concentrations of higher grade gold at surface, and in and around historical shallow underground workings.
Drilling in this area also identified wide, low-grade gold anomalism in the hanging wall alteration, with many
assays in excess of 1.00 g/t Au at various intervals outside of the defined lode system. These zones may
constitute mineable pockets of gold mineralisation that will be tested at a grade control stage.

Holes MHRC053 and MHRC065 complete the northern panel of drilling between 4900mN and 5100mN.
Hole MHRC065 was abandoned in mineralisation after it encountered difficult drilling conditions.
Significantly, the results to hand (11m @ 1.41 g/t Au from 20m) are outside the previously defined ore zone, demonstrating that up-dip intersections previously reported from within MHRC064 and 64A (17m @4.62 g/t Au from 19m; 16m @ 4.39 g/t Au from 16m) are in fact approximately true-width.

    Forward Work Schedule
A second drilling shift has commenced to accelerate the programme. Drilling capacity is now 150 metres per
day, which will enable the remaining 2,000 metres to be completed before the end of December 2004. The
Company expects to generate a revised mineral resource estimate, incorporating the results of the 2004
programme, in the first quarter of the 2005 calendar year.

This will be immediately followed by a bankable feasibility study.

    Yours faithfully
