This change the date crap comes up every year, what is wrong with people? Plainly they have no pride in their country and couldn't care at all...unless the Government took away their welfare.

Imo it is the way the kids today are taught in School, they are not taught the history of our country...our history is considered by some to be "shameful", something to be embarrassed about, so is just not mentioned any more.

Though I have to admit, when I went to school I don't recall much Australian history being taught, though we did learn of the various early explorers that did come by. And we had all sorts of nationalities in our classes, even some Aboriginal kids and we all got on well. We didn't even know what "racism" was then.

The locals were damned lucky that it was the Poms that settled here as they did their best live alongside the then local tribes. Other nations would have just wiped them out without a second thought.

But it still makes me wonder why the inhabitants of Australia were so backward. Even in the late 1700's they didn't have any technology short of rubbing sticks together and smashing rocks to crush shells, no structures at all short of tree branches and sticks to shelter under. While the Europeans for years had been sailing around the world in timber boats, and had used horse drawn carriages to get about for centuries almost.

You would have thought they'd have been grateful to the English for bringing reliable food sources, proper shelter and medicines. But no, nothing is ever good enough it seems...
