It need not be all in one term but a number of these people ought to have gone previously and are outstaying their welcome, a bit like John Howard whose hanging in cost them dearly and cost him his seat.
I was unhappy with the labor member in my electorate two elections ago and was very happy when replaced by a younger and more capable liberal member. Companies go for generational change and succession planning and this is also essential for politicians. Decades ago the House of Reps and particularly the Senate were a good place to have a snooze but fortunately the public and some younger politicians on both sides were awake to that and put a rocket under the sleepwalkers. The ones that come to mind wre Andrew Peacock who absolutely blasted politicians on all sides on entry to parliament, also Paul Keating and there were a few others. Currently the young liberal who lost his Senate secretary position for questioning Pynes motivation for being a liberal is one of the younger brigade the libs should be grooming for the future.
