Maintaining the status quo has been a long Lib tradition going back to Menzies (yes, I remember him) who was "British to the bootstraps", was happy to ride on the sheep's back (no need to actually "do" anything) and sell our scrap iron to Japan.
The only "big" steps I can remember the Libs taking was the GST and sending us to war.
