    What a great post Sailor101.

Politics and the quality of candidates has gone to pot with the elimination of branches,

There used to be ALP and Liberal Party branches in every tin pot village.
Party members would vote for candidates and policy.

Now party chiefs sitting at a table run their power plays.

    One clear issue is migration.
Clearly the people want it cut.

But no party has reduction of immigration as a policy.

The tin ear chiefs in the city are not listening.

"One clear issue is migration.Clearly the people want it cut.". well it was Tony Abbott that set up the need fro high levels of immigration. he demanded the universities earn more money for their functions by accepting masses of foreign student applications and slashed TAFE funding resulting in less trades and other professionals achieving their diplomas and trade qualifications.

and from what I've read over the years it was Abbott started the war with electorate branches demanding that the federal party select candidates.
