    Lynas: Thanks Dr. MMohamad Shofi Mat IsaAugust 09, 2019 7:30 PM211KUANTAN Aug 9 - Residents around Balok here thank Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for making a decision based on data and scientific facts to proceed with the operation of Lynas Corporation Ltd (Lynas) rare earth processing plant in nearby Gebeng.Head of Village Balok, Mansor Mokhtar, 48, said residents applauded the Prime Minister's decision and urged those who continued to oppose the plant to stop doing so."It is enough to politicize the Lynas issue. To date there is no evidence that the operation of this rare earth mill is unsafe."We (residents) hold fast to the scientific facts of the experts conducting the investigation and confirm that the plant is safe," he said when met by reporters after lodging a police report at the Beserah police station here today.The police report was made following statements by anti-Lynas activist Tan Boon Teet and Bentong MP Wong Tack who claimed they were representatives of the residents, especially in the case of Lynas.Mansor said that as the village head, he represented the residents denying the allegations of the two individuals that they were representing the residents of Balok."They are also trying to scare the locals into polluting water in the Balok due to the Lynas plant, we residents of Balok, Cherating, Beserah and the Snake River 20 percent of which work in the sea, and if they say they are polluting the fish, squid, shrimp. , they are trying to scare the population, "he said.He said the residents were actually MPs Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and Beserah state assemblyman Andansura on Wednesday."Our representatives are not Wong Tack, Boon Teet and Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh," he said. - ONLINE message
