Just a thought - AUKUS deal involves reciprocating- sharing the love! Austal is low hanging fruit is this regard for the US.
As part of the deal the Aus Govt is pumping in a couple of billion taxpayers money into US to speed up sub production lines (to free up second hand subs for Aus). Austral would be a cheap way for US to show some reverse commitment. Just my 10c. DYOR.
