Let me explain it for you(numbers made up but you'll ... maybe ... get the point)
A builder signed a contract to build a home, contract value $150k, budgeted cost for the builder $100k = $50k profit
Inflation hit ...
Builder still has the obligation to build the home and will still only receive $150k but that home now costs him $180k to build.
Builder goes broke
