The real challenge now is to see how politically savvy our directors are (assuming everything they have done is above board). We just had the Indonesian president in Darwin encouraging Australians to invest in Indonesia - claiming good corporate governance, rule of law, transparency, etc. On the surface at least this flies in the face of all he had to say and should be a real loss of face. The directors better be working pretty smartly behind the scenes to exploit that, or alternatively use our politicians (both sides) to turn this into a major issue regarding the economic relationship between Australia and Indonesia and a potential threat to any other foreign investment in Indonesia.
