More NT uranium mining 'inevitable'

The NT Resources Council says more uranium is likely to be produced from the Northern Territory in the next few years.

Thunderlarra Exploration recently announced finding high grades of uranium while exploring near Pine Creek, about 200 kilometres south of Darwin.

NT-based Crosslands has also announced it's likely to start drilling for uranium in the same region in coming days.

Scott Perkins, from the NT Resources Council, says a uranium mine is probably inevitable.

"What we've got is an extremely rich area in the Northern Territory and we're starting to realise the full extent of this as uranium comes into its day in the sun," he says.
