Maybe so but there would not have been that high a number of robberies if there were not all those guns available in the first place.
Quite clearly US has a big problem, they couldn't get rid of the guns so easily even if laws changed. They are already out there and whenever an inkling of a change in law comes about, sales of guns surge in anticipation.
