Hey Plough,
That pier is Alcoa's very own pier that is very well used.
The shipping channel used for Geelong and Melbourne's ports is 200 metres further out from the end of this pier.
Our for-fathers did plan well when putting Alcoa where it is and probably not a bad place for a aluminium recycling centre either.
