Not at all Reilly, it is just that they have worked out that producing electricity offshore to power an onshore desalination plant is better.
The Garden Island Microgrid Project will be doing just that.
One of the advantages being that they will be able to locate arrays much further offshore and in deeper water where wave energy is greater and no efficiency loss through pumping.
I can see CWE/EMC and MakWater collaborating on many projects in Australia and overseas.
