dbl...my racehorse trainer/jockey brother used to swim his horses at Werribee....one of my little shetlands decided to have a roll in the dam..with me on his back....when I was about 5...could not swim..but got myself out
parents taught me to ride at 2 years old....
all those years in the bush...had 5 horses to worry about on those bushfire days...kept them in the front yard with the float next to them at the ready...figured get 2 into the float...daughter ride one and lead one...and I would lead one while driving the car...take them about 500 yards and let them go...the lane I would let them loose in followed the river for about 5 klms....that was the plan....lots of nervous days, smoke so thick you could not tell where a fire was... kept the cat locked in the house...it was all about evacuating with the animals...forget the house it was insured wish I had thought about an underground bunker in those days...for the horses cheers
