I have no doubt that Santos would have tried to negotiate for less, however soon realized that a 2nd JV at a higher price was occuring & with Santos's biggest competitors I may add. Therefore they came to the party with the first JV.
Also the other thing that RC would have stated which gives CTP strength in the negotating JV is our acreage. Sure he would have been upfront that our balance sheet was weak. But our acreage was Strong & Large & some of the world's large energy companies need ONSHORE exploration as against Offshore/risky exploration. The demand for our acreage was always there & RC knew it.

Just a side idea, I wouldnt mind seeing AWE (an Australian coy) get involved with CTP. The silly buggers did own a great percentage of BRU (via the ARC takeover) but sold this & no doubt regret that decision. Hence should relook at CTP.
