Anyone remember the Ford Pinto story? This is the one where the car had a badly designed fuel tank so the car would catch fire if involved in a low speed collision. After many people died from burning to death, the engineers came up with a simple solution to fix it. Wasn't much to it; about $40 per car. The accounts however, crunched the numbers are realised that with millions of these cars on the road, the $40 or so it works cost to fix each would be more than to pay out the families of the victims. So what did they do? Burnt to death scores of people because it meant the company had better profit at the end of the year.
How does this relate to Macquarie and Morgan Stanley? Well even if they actually did get fined for stock market manipulation, the money they make from pulling stunts like this would still be more than any fine. You do the maths; it works out. Absolutely unethical, but if it brings in more dollars at the end of the year it ain't gonna stop.

Therefore read all their BS stories and when they sell and the market sells, do what they do and buy.
