I know what you mean by that. A battery that is bolted to the garage wall is different to what you are talking about - and I agree the $800 to $1800 odd ask is a bit of a shock when you ask the question. Give it time I suppose. The weight/packaging will be a big advantage driver .....
A little point on batteries, a lithium powered purely electric car still has a good old lead-acid lump under the "bonnet" to do the kick.
