Does anyone know how the deemed disposal tax rule works for companies that get taken over? I stopped being an Australian resident for tax purposes 3 years ago and chose to pre-pay my CGT on that date. I was a EXU holder at the time meaning i was exempt from having to pay CGT when I eventually sold the stock. However, it got taken over so not sure how that works and when I asked my tax agent they wanted to charge me $300 for an answer. Praying I'm holding this with no CGT liability!
