good to see you posting here from the STT. Quite boring there these days regardless of CC's great efforts and the few entertaining regulars.
Following on from what Valve has mentioned, I'd like to suggest a metaphor.
Gaps are like asking someone 'how was your day.' Someone will have had certain experiences within their day, like a headache for example. This represents our gap in the metaphor. Eventually the headache passes after a certain period.
The next day someone asks them, 'how was your day yesterday?'
'Well, I had a headache in the middle of the day, but overall I was fine.'
The headache existed intraday, but overall the day was fine. There was no gap.
