Forrestania Resources reports assays of up to 49g/t from Eastern Goldfields project

    By Imelda Cotton - April 10, 2024

Forrestania Resources (ASX: FRS) has reported gold samples of up to 49 grams per tonne from field work at the Ada Ann and Bonnie Vale North prospects within its Eastern Goldfields project in Western Australia.

The company completed multiple field and site visits to each prospect and spent a significant amount of time collating and capturing historic data.

The site visits returned grab samples from previously unrecorded and historic drill spoils, with best results including 49g/t, 15.7g/t and 13.5g/t gold.

They add to results compiled from recent Western Australia Mineral Exploration (WAMEX) data reviews at Ada Ann including 7m at 5.01g/t gold from 4m, 1m at 4.75g/t gold from 24m, 12m at 2.68g/t gold from 8m and 2m at 8.08g/t gold from 14m.

Ada Ann is located approximately 8 kilometres from the 5.3 million ounce Mungari gold operation owned by Evolution Mining (ASX: EVN).

    Significant potential

Forrestania said the prospect had significant exploration potential, with no drilling known to have taken place in the last 15 years despite high-grade gold intersections and mineralisation that appears open at depth and along strike.

“We have completed a thorough database and WAMEX review, [which has seen] the exploration potential of the Ada Ann prospect grow significantly, giving [us] strong, first-pass drill targets within a well-endowed, world-class gold region,” the company said.

    Bonnie Vale mineralisation

Bonnie Vale is located to the north-east of the Ada Ann prospect, within the greenstones of the Eastern Goldfields Super Terrane and nearby to the Kunanalling Shear Zone.

The prospect is believed to have strong potential for gold mineralisation.

A large rotary air blast drilling program was completed over Bonnie Vale North at the end of the 1990s, with results including 12m at 0.23g/t gold from 48m, 4m at 0.46g/t from 36m, 11m at 0.33g/t gold from 24m and 13m at 0.26g/t gold from 36m.

    Kunanalling drilling

In 2022, private explorer Outback Minerals drilled three reverse circulation holes near the Kunanalling Shear Zone and intercepted several zones of composited, low-grade gold mineralisation.

Forrestania recently assayed 1m splits from those holes, with exploration results including 3m at 2.03g/t gold from 77m and 1m at 1.68g/t gold from 66m.

“The results suggest the gold mineralisation is open at depth and with further historic mineralisation located 500m to the north-west,” the company said.

“The Bonnie Vale North area shows strong exploration potential.”
