I am a newbie here too.. and have made mistakes and learnt from them. I am sure you and i aren't the only ones who have made mistakes and fallen for pumps. Here are a few things that have worked for me:
Paper trade a few days to determine who is pumping a stock simply to get out as they were left holding bag and determine who the genuine traders are. there are many many genuine traders here.
Only place what you are willing to lose
Emotions can ride high... if you think u are getting caught up in emotions... walk away.. take a walk in fresh air. There will always be opportunities in this market. don't fall for FOMO. Take a break.
Take calculated risks. Study and try to learn how to read charts.. that way you wont fall for the pump.
