You raise a very interesting point, however it is not the brokers who are at fault it is the Trustees of Super funds who allow this to happen. Not so much in the smaller mid caps but this occurs all the time in the larger companies, I tried to have this practice investigated some years ago but got no where. Every single person who has their superfunds invested should be contacting their Super Fund Trustees to stop this short selling. The Trustees argue they get a payment for lending the stock but what benefit is it for a small payment when the value of the stock is smashed
