But it’s all so slow, so slow....and Rudd is in fact moving so cautiously that he gives no hint how his own leadership would differ from Beazley’s if judged by policies - except, of course, that Rudd might actually have some.

I don’t know what Beazley’s few supporters are waiting for before they decide there’s no future with him.

Look at what were supposed to be Beazley’s big issues to win back government.

The Government’s unpopular workplace reforms? They’ve in fact produced none of the true horror stories of heartless bosses that Labor was counting on, and unemployment fell while the minimum wage jumped. With the High Court now refusing to declare the changes unconstitutional, Labor at the moment will go into the election promising a backtothepast tearing up of changes which by then will be two years old, and working well.

It will look like a dinosaur.

Global warming? The Liberals are now foot-to-the-floor on climate change, but without seeming job-wreckers, which should stop thie issue from being a big plus for Labor.

Iraq? Still not a vote switcher, and by the time of the election we’ll probably see some troop withdrawals anyway.... and if Labor pushes too hard on this, as is likely, it will seem weak on national security.

    What else has Labor got?

Anything on health that you’ve noticed? Education? Citizenship? Water?

I don’t know if Rudd is the answer. But I do know that Beazley is not.

    Shame.
