Guaranteed $2.7m fee upfront and 1.5m options, that's a fair incentive and buffer for a fundie

They get all that anyway, even if they sell the stock into the market, so why would they slot their own funds at par value?
If you are suddenly trying to put a halo around these fund managers- you will be in rare company.
Was it not you who invoked the use of the adjective "Impressive" to describe them?
At the every least, I think they are financially literate enough to know that when companies seek funds from capital markets, as in inducement, it is done at a discount at prevailing market price.
So why they will suddenly be willing to act as MSB's capital market bunnies - by taking MSB stock at market value, which is your premise - escapes me.
I don't think you generate the sorts of returns that they have done by thinking and operating like financial patsies.
