I have been going back to the start of 2016 to study the short positions of whc. It is alarmingly similar to today. At the start of 16 shorts were around the 6- 6.5% mark as they were up until recently. As the coal price rose from 50us to 110us in Amidpril through October, the share price in whc also appreciated from 50c in April 16 to around 2.75 by years end. The major close out of shorts occurred in Aug then November, short positions reduced from 6.5% to 2.5%, which correlates with the large jumps in share prices also at these times. Even though the coal price then dipped to mid us70s in 2017, whc share price held strong between $2-3 before taking off again mid 2017.
