morons making stupid rules for our kids, page-20

I went to school in England and regularly got an E for maths but it hasn't stopped me from being successful in business. I got a B in Latin which I could at least understand then but algebra was like a much more difficult language of which I had no comprehension. I got used to being an E student and evolved my own way of solving mathematical problems. It didn't make me feel stupid but showed me I had no aptitude for algebra, geometry of anything more complicated than long division. I think we overstate the effect that these gradings have on children, but then it's probably the parents attitude that is of most concern.
