My son did the NAPLAN this year too and his results were all in Band 7 and 8 but he is an average student compared to the rest of his year on his reports exept Maths.
His spelling was top of the Band 8 yet the school average was only just above the National average - and spelling is not his best subject, Maths is!
His schools average in all subjects was only just above the National average and yet he has never been chosen for extension classes or the Maths Olympics.
I think maybe the teachers should look more at the NAPLAN results and teach accordingly.
But I am very happy with my sons school and think they do a great job.
